About Us
You may be asking, "What is an insurance consultant?" Good question. There are three parties to any insurance transaction - the insurance company, the insurance agent, and the insurance buyer. Guess who needs the most help understanding the product?
An insurance agent represents their insurance company in all transactions. They get paid a commission from that company when they sell you insurance. As a consultant, you retain us as a fee-based member of your team. You receive unbiased advice from an insurance professional committed to improving your bottom line.
Prior to founding Toro Consulting, Inc., I worked as a commercial agent for two independent agencies in Western Washington, and prior to that as an underwriter at United Pacific Insurance. I'm a proud graduate of the University of Washington where I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in 1987.
I earned my designation of Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) in 1996. I'm a faculty member for the Professional Insurance Agents (PIA) Western Alliance educating agents on commercial property insurance.
As a former high school basketball coach, I find it rewarding to educate coaches and teachers at all levels about how to protect themselves and their athletes from liability. I've spoken to numerous coaches and teachers groups and serve as a trainer for the Archdiocese of Seattle's "Called to Protect" program, which trains educators and volunteers who work with children in the diocese.
Some of the professional organizations I belong to are the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors, the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce, Toastmasters International, the National Speakers Association-Northwest, and the Building Industry Association of Washington (BIAW).

I reside in the beautiful Puget Sound in Poulsbo, WA with my wife, two daughters, and two loyal dogs.
